The dream of a cloudless night

The sky did not deliver

Or it did

But not the cloudless celestial sort

The promise of the stars

Or the moon

Were left to my imagination

Helped by a photograph

Of one taken earlier

On a cloudless night

But tonight it rained

And the roof remained tightly shut

I walked back home

In the damp wet air

And the rain puddles on my path

In the promise of my return

On another night

They call a cloudless summer’s sky!

Bayfordbury Observatory is the University of Hertfordshire's teaching observatory for astronomy and astrophysics. It has 7 large, individually-housed optical telescopes. Graham and I attended one of their public events on Friday April 14th, 2023 which included a talk from one of their astronomy students with a tour of the sky in their Planetarium. This was hugely interesting, helped by the insightful questions by the younger members in the group! But as for the nighttime sky, I left me wanting for more.
