The symphony of the sky
These words slowly came to me as I became mindful of the noise around me. I was visiting Malta at the time. This visit coincided with the start of summer. On summer solstice I experienced a heavy downpour of rain. I felt cheated; this wasn't fair. But it didn't last and when I looked up I noticed that the sky had tuned blue again!
The symphony of the sky
It slowly starts with a few drops of rain,
seemingly pointless and useless and then,
increases its downpour,
The charge of water is severe enough to cause a stir
Everyone is taken by surprise!
Who saw it coming?
And it passed within the hour
And the sun slowly forced its way through the clouds fighting off their angry grey until they disappeared.
And more familiar noises returned
The cars blowing their horns
Was it the danger or the impatience that got someone shouting
Or was he a vendor or a street trader
Marking his arrival where he stopped?
And the fireworks soon made their sound,
Drowning the noise from the traffic,
Only for a moment
Until the fireworks stopped
and I heard the traffic screeching again,
Driving over road bumps!
And the neighbour’s daughter spoke
and she asked why,
And her mother replied
but I did not understand
And I heard their laughter
and I decided they were having fun!
Somewhere people were talking,
even shouting, possibly arguing
Who was wrong or who was right.
And the birds found their noise
And I looked up and saw the sky was blue,
and a plane accelerated across dividing the sky,
and the noise lifted
without a rhythm or a beat.
