I come for a moment's pleasure

Last May I took myself once again to the Turner Gallery in Margate. Here I can easily loose myself amongst the work of other artists to be inspired. The sun shone bright and I got lucky. The installation Dutch/Light (for Agneta Block) by Jyll Bradley was on display outside the gallery. It was developed from an idea of leaning glass frames against a south facing wall to maximise light and heat for horticulture growth. I learnt that the orange symbolises The Netherlands, the green, Kent, “Garden of England”. The structure allows for geometric patterns throughout the day as the sun moves across the sky. And I played with the light!

Inspired as I was I wrote the following words!

I came for a moment's pleasure

I came for this moment’s pleasure,

To see the light and colours,

The reflections on the wall.

I took the train for this,

From St Pancras to Margate

Where the angular panels stood

Reflecting in the glass.

I was not distracted

Enjoying my moment’s quiet

The beauty in the art

Where the sun and the sky collided and kaleidoscope together.
